The Need

“We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt.”
– Thomas Jefferson

There is a systemic problem that exists in our current government structure. The vast majority of Americans today have little influence over our federal debt. Regardless of which party is in power, our federal debt continues to rise.

This explosion of debt is slowly destroying our economy by crowding out private economic activity, reducing wages and jobs, and increasing the cost of goods and services. If this explosion of debt remains unchecked it will lead to catastrophic economic failure. There is no mechanism in our Constitution to control the ability of Congress to generate debt. The proposed amendment would create a broad national dialogue prior to allowing Congress to mortgage our future.

This tongue-in-cheek video illustrates the absurdity of our current debt expansion.

The Answer

The National Debt Relief Amendment:

“An increase in the federal debt requires approval from a majority of the legislatures of the separate States.”

Our goal is to pass this amendment through our state legislatures by asking them to pass our resolution and make this amendment a part of our Constitution.
